Resident Tips: Winterize Your Home, Requesting Maintenance, and more

Residents: Welcome to our first blog post specifically catered to you.

To ensure we help make the most of your resident experience, we have compiled some

resident tips that will help you stay comfortable and enjoy your home with us to the

fullest.

Read below for this month’s resident tips!

Winterize Your Home

As the days get shorter and the air gets crisper, it’s a sure sign that winter is just around

the corner. Now is the time to prepare your apartment home for the colder months to

ensure your comfort. Here are some easy ways to prepare your apartment for winter.

Test out your heat - If you haven’t used your heating yet, you should check it

out and ensure your system is working properly. A good rule of thumb for the winter is to make sure your thermostat is set to at least 68 degrees in the winter. This will reduce any opportunity for the pimples that service your HVAC system to freeze or chill over.

Check your smoke detectors - Winter is a perfect time to check our smoke

detectors. Press the test button on your detector to ensure your system is working

properly. If you notice any concerns, you should place a maintenance request via the resident portal.

Protect your space from fires - Take precautions when using space heaters

or candles. Space heaters and candles should be kept away from curtains, fabric,

and water, among other items. It’s also important to never leave any warming

devices or lit décor unattended in your apartment. Space heaters with frayed

cords should be discarded and candles should have their wicks trimmed after

extended use.

Filter Changes

Remember to change your filter if you have not done so yet. Filter changes are essential

to living comfortably and are important to do as the weather changes.

Dirty air filters make it harder for your HVAC system to push air into your home.

Letting old filters stay in your system also reduces efficiency and can make your system

more likely to malfunction.

Additionally, dirty filters can circulate dust, pollen, and even animal fur if you have pets

throughout your home. Ensuring you change your filters can keep the air in you home

clean and lessen any health or sinus concerns.

Maintenance Requests

It is important to keep an eye on your apartment as winter approaches. If you have

maintenance requests you have been putting off submitting, we encourage you to enter these in the resident portal. It’s also important to note that all maintenance requests

should be input through your resident portal.

Sending these via text or even verbally removes much of the opportunity for requests to be logged properly and recorded for follow up or future concerns.

Please submit any maintenance requests via the resident portal.

You can access your resident portal via the navigation panel at the top of our website:

https://www.vividpm.net/ and submitting a maintenance request is quick and easy.
